<p><a href="http://www.arthousefilmsonline.com/2009/03/milton-glaser-to-inform-deligh.html" target="_blank">To Inform and Delight</a> is a great film that takes a close look into the beginnings, process and philosophy of <a href="http://www.miltonglaser.com/" target="_blank">Milton Glaser</a>. It&#8217;s refreshing to see how a designer who has impacted the world tremendously, still finds so much fun in his work. What makes him unique for me is his ability to capture the feeling of a generation, a time period or culture in his work.</p>
<p>I recommend checking out the film, which I found through the good people at <a href="http://www.arthousefilmsonline.com/2009/03/milton-glaser-to-inform-deligh.html" target="_blank">Arthouse Films</a> (an independent production and distribution label based in NY and LA) and learn why Milton chose a small office near a playground, how he developed his skills an illustrator &amp; designer and exactly how much money he received for the &#8220;I ♥ NY&#8221; project (I know I was surprised). The film is due for public release May 22nd.</p>
<p><img src="file:///Users/avery/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot.jpg" alt="" /><img src="file:///Users/avery/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot-1.jpg" alt="" /></p>

<p>The film will be released alongside a new book by Milton, &#8216;Drawing is Thinking,&#8217; which <a href="http://www.arthousefilmsonline.com/" target="_blank">Arthouse Films</a> will be raffling off along with a signed poster by Milton Glaser himself!</p>

<em>photo by <a href="http://www.deborahfeingold.com/" target="_blank">Deborah Feingold</a></em></p>
<p>I was revisiting an <a href="http://www.hillmancurtis.com/index.php?/film/watch/milton_glaser/" target="_blank">artist series</a> directed by <a href="http://www.hillmancurtis.com" target="_blank">Hillman Curtis</a> today after work slowed down a bit. They are truly some of the most inspirational films I&#8217;ve seen that focus on some of the biggest names in design and have impacted the world as we know it today (even if you&#8217;ve never heard of them).</p>
<p>Hands down, the most inspirational designer to me is <a href="http://www.miltonglaser.com/" target="_blank">Milton Glaser</a>.
</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://miltonglaser.com/img/posterprint/notsaleposter/Dylan_poster.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="369" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-169" title="dissentcover" src="http://asmith3.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/dissentcover-249x300.jpg" alt="dissentcover" width="249" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="alignnone" src="http://www.miltonglaserposters.com/images/vert%20400px/designism_big.jpg" alt="" width="433" height="400" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">But what<a href="http://www.hillmancurtis.com/index.php?/film/watch/milton_glaser/" target="_blank"> the video interview</a> offers is a look into his philiosophy, how he looks at the world and why he&#8217;s stayed so passionate about design and teaching.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><object width="530" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1937642&amp;server=www.vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color="></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1937642&amp;server=www.vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="530" height="355"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;None of us have the ability to understand our path until it&#8217;s over.&#8221;<br />
&#8220;&#8230;because you have access to people&#8217;s minds and you communicate<br />
to people&#8230;there is a corresponding responsibility&#8230;&#8221;<br />
<em>-Milton Glaser</em></p>
